Normal (redefined)

(This was our baby girl’s birth announcement picture for our Christmas cards. Isn’t she adorable?)

Our baby girl is redefining normal for us in the Jones household, because the old version of normal will probably never be normal again. Here just a few examples of how our lives have changed:

Old perfume: Jadore by Dior
New perfume: spit up

Old bedtime: 11 pm
New bedtime: 8 pm

Old hobby: running/walking
New hobby: feeding/holding the baby girl

I can count on one hand the number of times I have: done my hair, been in my car, stepped foot out of my house (okay, this might be a bit of an exaggeration…I have taken a few walks), worn make-up, gotten dressed (lounge clothes don’t count) and slept for longer than 3 hours at a time in the last three weeks.

My new normal consists of countless amounts of laundry and diapers, as well as spending way too much time on the couch (thankfully they are comfortable).

No, I am not complaining, just adjusting. I am not sure where my days go, but I love every squeak and funny face she makes. I could hold her or look at her all day and not grow bored or tired of it. She is truly an amazing gift and a blessing.

  1. Hey Joanna! Just catching up on blogs tonight! :) I was laughing at this post - I remember feeling the exact same way ever so vividly! Don't worry girl, it does get better. Your normal will change a lot in the next few months, including more sleep for you! Yes, it does happen eventually. :) And thank goodness you got that new furniture just in time! :) You are doing a great job, keep it up! ~lindsey p
