Bittersweet

She has been sick.  No, this picture is not of her sick, because she was so pathetic that I didn’t want to document it.  It hasn’t been easy, lots of holding, sleepless nights, tears, laundry, etc.  However, in the midst of it all, there was something about the way that she just wanted to be held and snuggled that brought me back to the early days when I could hold her for hours on end and she didn’t try to wiggle out to play or crawl away.  Every new stage is fun, but I truly do miss those times, but not enough to wish her sick that’s for sure!

A Rodeo or Dinner?

The baby girl has taken to bucking in her booster seat.  She slumps down in the seat,  fixes her feet on the edge of the chair below, and off she goes like a bull rider.  This makes dinners a less than peaceful meal time.  Therefore, I ghetto rigged her chair with some diapers that I received from one of my showers that are too big for her.  It isn't the prettiest sight, but it works.  I am looking forward to many more years of out smarting her.

A Little Confirmation

I went and visited the school that I used to teach at.  As I drove there I found myself missing the excitement that comes with the beginning of the school year, getting that new class list, coming up with bulletin boards and decorating, planning the first few days, and so on.  I remembered the thrill that comes with helping a student master a concept they were struggling with and the anticipation of teaching when I came up with a creative way to enhance a lesson.  As I pulled in to the parking lot I began to wonder if by staying at home I was neglecting to use the gifts that God gave me.  I might still be contemplating this  but when I arrived the teachers were being kicked out of their classrooms for carpets to be cleaned, their computers were down, and the hallways were being tiled.  I thought that was God's way of confirming my decision.  So for now I am going to teach the baby girl to clap her hands, wave good-bye, and "no"; which is actually more satisfying than teaching first grade.

It was just bound to happen

She hadn't had a dirty diaper in a day or two, which can only mean one of two things, she is either going to have lots of diapers all day long or one hugely explosive one.  With this knowledge one would think that I would have the sense to stay at home on a day I know is going to be full of gross diapers, but as you could've guessed I didn't.  Instead when I got to the store I found a baby girl covered in poop, up the front and back, down the legs, not to mention the car seat, you get the picture.  I think this might've been the worst diaper in baby girl history.  I have learned my lesson.

(FYI- She is wearing an Auburn dress, NOT a Gator dress)
