Giving In

In order to avoid some serious embarrassment, by showing part of my growing belly off in public (my shirts are getting a little short for my ever growing baby), I have officially given in to wearing some to looking at to buying some maternity clothes. So, after purchasing a skirt and capris at Target, and three shirts at Gap, I decided to try Motherhood. Armed with a gift card and a desire to look at least somewhat decent during this pregnancy I walked into Motherhood. I wasn’t even in the store 10 seconds when the sales woman came up to me and asked me, “Are you pregnant?” Can you believe that? I am in a maternity store, looking at clothes, why else would I be there, their clothes aren’t that cute…trust me?! Despite my desire to make some sarcastic remark about stuffing my shirt I replied “22 weeks”. To that she made some odd comment about just looking like I had eaten too much for lunch! I didn’t respond, I couldn’t respond, I wanted to say “Do you want to sell me clothes or make rude comments about the size of my belly?” So, after all of that I will be shopping at Target and Gap for my maternity clothes for the rest of my pregnancy, unless there is another store around here besides Motherhood.

Research, Research, and More Research

Strollers? Really? Researching Strollers? That’s right! I have spent countless hours trying to figure out the stroller craze. Manufacturers would have you to think that you need a different stroller for every occasion and stage of your life…a travel system or car seat carrier, a lightweight stroller, a jogging stroller, an umbrella stroller…not to mention double and triple strollers when siblings come along. My goal is to NOT own three or four or more strollers by the time by the baby is two years old. All of this and I haven’t even mentioned the price range, various features to choose from, and all the different recalls that you have to keep up with! Did you know that strollers can amputate a child’s fingertip? SCARY! The good news is that I still have four months to decide what I need, the bad news is that with all the strollers and information available I might need more than four months. Isn’t there a good jogging stroller out there that I can use for everything, my daily run, my errands, etc. that doesn’t cost a small fortune, doesn’t weigh 30 pounds, and isn’t big and bulky? If there is, I haven’t found it yet!

Oatmeal Pancakes

I adapted a recipe that I got off allrecipies.com for the ingredients we had in our kitchen and these turned out delicious!

Ingredients
• 10 TBS old fashion oats
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/3 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 tsp vegetable oil
• 1/4 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
• 3/4 cup milk
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
In a bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda, salt and sugar. Add the egg, oil, vanilla, yogurt and milk and mix together. Pour batter onto a greased pan on medium heat, turn when bubbles start to form on the top; cook until both sides are golden brown.

Fly By

Here is a quick update:

We survived our first visit from the boy’s family; it was the longest amount of time we have spent with them in our three years of marriage, and overall it went better than I expected. I attribute it to the fact that I didn’t let his mom in my kitchen and that I am pregnant with their first grandchild.

The boy and I have officially felt the baby really move, kick, elbow, etc. It is so fun and exciting!

I am exactly half way done with my pregnancy (if all goes well and it really comes on November 30th, which is highly unlikely…have I mentioned that my mom was at least two weeks late with all of us?).

Maternity clothes status- Nada!

I officially made it to my goal of running for the first 20 weeks today! Now I am going for 26, which is kind of lofty, but why not?
