A Little Confirmation

I went and visited the school that I used to teach at.  As I drove there I found myself missing the excitement that comes with the beginning of the school year, getting that new class list, coming up with bulletin boards and decorating, planning the first few days, and so on.  I remembered the thrill that comes with helping a student master a concept they were struggling with and the anticipation of teaching when I came up with a creative way to enhance a lesson.  As I pulled in to the parking lot I began to wonder if by staying at home I was neglecting to use the gifts that God gave me.  I might still be contemplating this  but when I arrived the teachers were being kicked out of their classrooms for carpets to be cleaned, their computers were down, and the hallways were being tiled.  I thought that was God's way of confirming my decision.  So for now I am going to teach the baby girl to clap her hands, wave good-bye, and "no"; which is actually more satisfying than teaching first grade.
